This week on Kelly's Korner Blog Carnival, (it used to be Show Us Your Home) the topic is wedding dresses. Well, I haven't gotten to wear a wedding dress yet. Since I have a baby, I'm pretty sure that if I ever do get married, my dress will look nothing like the one I'd envisioned before the kiddo. I still want to wear a beautiful dress, I just don't think it would be appropriate to wear the big, white, 50 foot long train (haha), poufy but still classic dress I thought I was going to wear.

In my head, or fantasy land, I always envisioned myself in a Grace Kelly-esque (a little more modern though) dress.

The reality, was more like this. I would have loved to wear a dress like this- it seems so romantic and beautiful.

This is the back of that dress

Now, I think I'd like to wear something like this. It doesn't look to I'm a trying to be a blushing-bride-without-a-child, at least I don't think it does! I think I would probably like to have little caplet sleeves and have it be a little more ivory and a lot less white. Like as least white as possible, while still being ivory-ish. The last thing I'd want someone to say (besides Doesn't she look fat?) is Why is she wearing white?
I can't wait to see some of ya'lls dresses, I'm sure there are some really fantastic ones! Oh, and the title is a SATC quote that's always made me laugh.

Great choices!!! You wear that big white dress if you want to!!!
They are all beautiful!!
Beautiful dresses! You wear what YOU want to wear on your wedding day! That is what it is all about.
I love that last dress
All 3 would be beautiful. My tastes change over time, so it would totally depend on when I was getting married.
Those are all so elegant!
I agree with the others! You wear that big poufy dress if you want! I LOVE that Grace Kelly dress! That's what I always envisioned too!
Totally go for the white dress if you want too -- pouf and all!!!!
I have a baby pre-wedding too, but I think we're going to do a beach wedding (or just elope somewhere European) if we do end up getting married. But who cares what anyone thinks...your wedding = YOUR choice...in every area!!!!
I love the fact that you used a sex and the city quote as your title :) ... I don't think there's anything wrong with bringing the Princess Grace look back, though the last one is beautiful!!
(oh - and so is your daughter!!)
You're too funny. I didn't have any kids before I got married, but my mom and grandma were horrified at the thought of me wearing a white dress because I had 'lived in sin' with my fiance before getting married. It was funnier because my mom has been married 4 times and my grandma had a quickie shotgun wedding before she started to 'show.'
I shouldn't have listened to either of them, and you shouldn't listen to anyone either...you wear whatever you want!
These days, anything goes. The old rules don't apply. You wear whatever you want. I wore the big white dress for my first, and I wore jeans and a hoodie for my second. So there you go.
The dresses are beautiful and you will look lovely in one!! Your daughter is beautiful- striking eyes and dark hair! Praise the Lord for His lavish forgiveness, redemption and blessings!
I'm not sure who's telling you that you're an "almost success" or you can't wear white on your wedding day. 2.0? I don't even know you and I have to say, no way. You may have made some mistakes along the way, but we ALL have. Wear white. Be a MAC or a PC or a 5.0 (haha, can you tell I know NOTHING about tech?). You are not less. Your daughter would not say so. Thanks for letting a total stranger "preach" at you a little. :)
the quote is funny! pretty dresses
I wore a white dress for our renewal. Anything goes.
I LOVE the big white dress! You can wear white if you want...whatever shade you feel most beautiful in is what you should wear!
I love them all! I love wedding dresses and I don't think it's fair we just get to wear one. I wore a white one, but after realizing I'm the palest person EVER, I thought maybe off-white would have been a better choice.
Why do you think you can't wear the big white dress?! Girl- wear what YOU want to!!
Where in VA do you live? I also live in VA!
Wear what makes you feel special, beautiful...you'll know it's
right when you put it on.
Gorgeous! I'm a Grace Kelley girl too! One day when the big wedding rolls around you wear that dress of your dreams.
Cathy ♥
I love that SATC quote from Miranda wedding dress shopping! And my wedding gown turned out a little bit differently from the one Annie wore in Father of the Bride, which is of course what I thought I would wear, circa mid-1990s...
You wear whatever dress you want! Your child is a blessing to celebrate and when you find the right one, wear whatever you want. It is your special day, celebrate however you want.
Your taste is good and your baby is gorgeous. That's solid in my book, friend!
I just saw this post and it made me laugh. I felt the same way when I got remarried, even though I didn't have children. At first, I felt like everyone would wonder why someone who had previously been married for 11 years was wearing white. Then again, none of those people would be invited, right?! The way I see it, it's not about the past, it's about the future. You wear whatever dress YOU want. (btw - I love your first choice - classic!)
